September is FASD Awareness Month
Every September, MassFASD joins communities across Massachusetts and the nation in raising awareness about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders — the most common preventable developmental disability.
This is a time to learn, ask questions, reduce stigma, and show support for individuals and families living with FASD. When people with FASDs have access to appropriate services and resources, they can thrive as members of their communities.
Massachusetts Stands with the FASD Community
MassFASD is proud to have received the FASD Awareness Month Proclamation from Governor Maura Healy — recognizing the significance of FASD in Massachusetts and the importance of expanding services and support statewide.
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has been a strong voice for disability dignity and inclusion. In signing legislation to modernize disability language in state law, she stated:
"Our laws should reflect the dignity and worth of every person — government is about serving everyone, and we need to make sure that all of our residents feel valued and respected."
— Governor Maura Healey, Office of the Governor, June 12, 2026
